Sometimes inspiration for our work comes from very random places. I tend to get an idea, and then decide it must be accomplished, regardless of whether I know anything about the technique or not. This is often how some of our best work comes about, from experimentation with new techniques.
This is a piece I made while experimenting with hammering copper wire. This particular piece sold on May 2nd at our very first public show. It came about completely by accident, and is one of my favorite pieces so far. Expect to see some new techniques and new handmade sterling silver pieces in the near future! Stay Tuned!

So this weekend starts the final countdown to our very first public appearance! TLD will have a table set up at the Staff Advisory Council Craft Showcase on the University of Arizona Campus Mall on Friday May 2nd from 11:00am - 1:30pm. This event starts our week of creating things for mother’s day, red & blue things for graduation gifts, signs, and display setups! It should be yet another exciting week around here, pictures to follow!

It’s usually hard to resist shiny pretties for making jewelry. Sometimes, you need to buy certain things because they’re your preference… say, heavy-gauge copper wire or copper chain by the foot.
I can’t imagine that makes me or us all that unique, so why, why, why do all the sites that sell such things (the few who do) look like crap? If anyone can recommend a well-designed site that sells a reasonably large selection of copper wire at larger gauges or a decent selection of solid (not plated) copper chain by the foot, I will be their customer for life.

A Time Lost favorite for watching while making stuff: Lost. The show played a huge part of the initial pile of things we created… catching K up on the 3 seasons aired so far, and spreading C’s obsession around so she wasn’t so alone waiting for new episodes and new seasons.

Time Lost Designs opened its Etsy.com shop today. Beads, wire, stones, glass, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, and earrings. Plus we’ll be adding more as we go, including flat pendant/pin designs on aluminum and copper. This site will offer more insight into what we make, why we make it, how, and what inspires us. Plus, a full gallery of everything, which lets us keep pictures of things after they’ve sold and post pictures of custom work that doesn’t appear on Etsy.

After discovering that, like much of our lives, we had a mutual hobby of making wire and bead jewelery (though neither of us had done it in a while) and after I decided to try it again to make a holiday gift for a co-worker, we just couldn’t resist anymore. Time to admit we have a serious bead and craft supply addiction and do something about it. And something with it.
So we spent the rest of our break between school semesters making stuff. Lots and lots of stuff.
And then we tried to figure out a name for ourselves to sell said stuff. Welcome to the hard part.
We settled on Time Lost Designs because that pretty much sums up what happens when we make all this stuff: “Wait… when did it become 3am?”
